Kauai, Hawaii
I visited Kauai in February (rainy season) and despite the rain, had the opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful places on this earth.
Hotel: We stayed at the Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu which was absolutely spectacular
Activity: I was training for a race when in Hawaii, so most of my exercise was accomplished via morning run. Despite the humidity and rain, the beautiful views made running fun. Via Holo Holo Charters, were able to catch a sunset cruise one evening, and we had a wonderful Mediterranean style meal on board. 10/10 recommend Holo Holo.
Cuisine: The food on the island is obviously super fresh and seafood forward. We ordered coconut shrimp at every meal and never tired of it. We spent a full day driving the perimeter of the island, starting out at the Hanapepe Farmers Market (there are many Farmers Markets in Kauai, so you’ll be able to fit at least one into your visit), and then stopping for a great breakfast at Olympic Cafe in Kapaa, and continuing on to Hanalei Bay. The coconut shrimp at Kalypso Island Bar in Hanalei Bay was just incredible.
Restaurants
Little Fish Coffee
I stopped by Little Fish Coffee for breakfast almost every morning. They have great smoothies, salads, and of course, coffee.
Paco’s Tacos
Located in Hanapepe, this little spot had great fish tacos
Brennecke’s
Brennecke’s had my favorite meal due in part because of the view of the ocean from the top floor of the grill. Best coconut shrimp, too!
